THE DENT CODE
These are guiding principles for Collective members. As a member you'll be expected to model these values. Please make sure the below resonates with you.
- Encourage Others
Great dancers lift the people around them. We celebrate the success of others and support those who are still growing. - Lead With Humility
Talent is important, but character matters more. We stay humble in victory and respectful in defeat. - Compete With Integrity
Competition should make us better, not bitter. We compete with honesty, effort, and respect for every dancer who steps on stage. - Choose Character Every Time
Leadership is revealed in small moments. We choose kindness, responsibility, and maturity even when it is difficult. - Tell Your Story Honestly
Our story is part of our influence. We represent ourselves and our experiences with authenticity and respect online and in person. - Contribute to the Community
Leadership means giving back. We share what we learn, support younger dancers, and work to strengthen the dance community. - Grow Relentlessly
We are never finished learning. We welcome feedback, embrace challenges, and pursue growth as artists and as people.
Being part of the Dent Collective is not about status.
It is about choosing to lead, grow, and contribute to the community around you.

Your Commitment:
>The Collective will meet monthly via zoom. There will be 12 meetings in a season. Zooms will last about an hour. Outside of meetings we'll have a monthly 'reflection prompt' for a group discussion via Slack. These are designed reinforce the concepts discussed during the last meeting or get students thinking about the upcoming zoom discussion. Slack conversations will take place approx two weeks after the zoom. Students can participate that week in their own availability.
>Monthly time commitment for members will be around 2hrs per month. A few sessions during the year will include some 'homework/independent work' but the goal is to not place burden on students who already have very busy schedules. The majority of the 'work' is done in the zoom session with application taking place organically in everyday life.
>Members will receive a field guide that includes supplemental information as well as a place to take notes and record thoughts/ideas from each session.
>Parents will receive a companion guide that provides an overview of what members will be learning each month, discussion starters for conversations at home around each month's topic, and practical ways you can support and encourage your student. Some sessions are planned for parents as well aimed at providing actionable guidance on things like social media, branding, and other things more commonly ran by parents of tween/teen performers.
>Apply and model the Dent Code in your everyday life and interactions with others.
>There is a program cost of $200 (billed $50/quarterly) for the year. This covers program, resource and technology costs.
>Capture Conference - The culmination in-person at the end of the year. A weekend of leadership workshops, photoshoots and other experiences designed as the capstone on your year of development. Details and information on this are still be formulated. Event is slated for Jul/Aug 2027. You won't want to miss it!

Why Is There a Program Fee?
It's a fair question.
Most dancers already invest significant time, energy, and resources into classes, competitions, conventions, costumes, travel, and training.
The Dent Collective isn't intended to add another item to that list. It's intended to fill a gap that traditional dance training often doesn't address.
Most dance education focuses on developing the performer.
The Dent Collective focuses on developing the person behind the performer.Throughout the year, members will explore topics such as:
• Leadership
• Confidence
• Communication
• Emotional Intelligence
• Resilience
• Healthy Social Media Habits
• Personal Branding
• Community Impact
• MentorshipThese are skills that influence not only dance, but school, relationships, future careers, and everyday life. The ideas and concepts explored throughout the program are adapted from leadership and personal development training used by business leaders, executives, entrepreneurs, and organizational teams. Our goal is to make those concepts accessible, practical, and relevant for young performers.
The annual program investment is $200 - billed $50 quarterly.
That investment helps support:
• Monthly leadership workshops
• Student Field Guide materials
• Parent Companion resources
• Community platform and engagement tools
• Personal Brand Development resources
• Curriculum development and program administration
• Future Collective resources and experiencesOur goal has never been to create a profit-driven program but we do want to create a sustainable one. One that helps students develop the confidence, character, leadership skills, and perspective they will continue using long after their dance careers end.
